Create a wallet (hardware device)

To create or restore a hardware wallet in Best Wallet, connect and unlock the device, open its Monero application when required, then choose the matching hardware-wallet option in the New/Restore wizard. Create a new wallet file for unused device keys, or restore an existing wallet file when the device has already received or sent Monero.

Prepare the hardware device

  1. Confirm that your device is supported in Hardware wallets.
  2. Connect the device to your computer and unlock it.
  3. For Ledger, open the Monero application. For Trezor, unlock the device and follow its on-screen prompts.
  4. On Linux, apply the official udev rules for your device if Best Wallet cannot access it. Use the rules supplied by the device manufacturer, not an untrusted mirror.

Create or restore the hardware wallet

  1. Open File → New/Restore if the wizard is not already open.
  2. Select Create wallet from hardware device.
  3. Choose the device type. If it is not listed, it is not currently supported by Best Wallet.
  4. Choose Create new wallet file from device when the device keys have never held Monero.
  5. Choose Restore a wallet from device when the device has previously received or sent Monero.
  6. If restoring, enter the wallet restore height. If you do not know it, use the date the device wallet was created so Best Wallet can calculate an initial height.
  7. Choose a wallet-file name and location, set a password, and complete the wizard.
