First start
The Best Wallet first-start wizard helps you connect to the Monero network and choose how wallet traffic is handled. For most users, the recommended starting point is automatic node selection with the default privacy settings; advanced users can choose a custom remote node or a local node.
Choose a Monero node connection
Best Wallet needs a node to scan the Monero blockchain and find your transactions. A node is a computer that maintains a copy of the Monero blockchain. Your node choice affects privacy, speed, and how much infrastructure you manage yourself.
- Auto connect: let Best Wallet choose a high-performance node from its configured list. This is the simplest option for most people.
- Custom remote node: select the manual option, then enter the node address and port supplied by an operator you trust.
- Local node: connect to a Monero node running on your own computer or local network. Best Wallet can detect a node on its default port, but it does not manage the node for you. See Connect to local node.
Choose your network privacy settings
Best Wallet routes wallet network traffic according to the options shown in the wizard. Synchronization can require significant bandwidth, so routing every sync byte through Tor may be slow. Review Nodes, Tor support, and Network Traffic before changing the defaults.
Third-party data
